Bio's:
Christine:
Christine Despard is a Level II ASCA certified swim instructor with 12 years of coaching experience. Her coaching experience includes many years of training triathletes through US Masters Swimming. She is a two time Southern Maryland Athletic Conference Coach of the Year for both boys and girls swimming and led her high school team to two State Championships. Christine also competed in US Masters Swimming from 1997-2005, and in many open water swimming events. Her specialty is stroke analysis and improvement.
Christine began cycling after signing up to participate in a fundraiser for the Leukemia Lymphoma Society’s Team in Training program. After completing her first century ride around Lake Tahoe in 2005, she fell in love with the sport. She returned as a mentor for the program in 2006 and went on to become a Team in Training Coach for the cycling program.
Christine put swimming and cycling together with running in 2009, and competed in her first triathlon, the Trek Women’s Triathlon. She wants to combine her new found passion for the sport, and her love for coaching people to do things they never imagined they could, to first time or seasoned athletes looking to reach their triathlon goals.
Yvette:
Yvette Sanborn started her passion for multisport by first participating in running races which included the Disney Marathon for the American Diabetes Association, the Chicago Marathon, and Anchorage Alaska Marathon. Triathlon was a great way to combine her enthusiasm for swimming, biking, and running. Yvette started racing in 2004 and completed her first Half Ironman race at Disney in May 2006. She completed her USAT Level I coaching certification in 2007 and has continued to race and train in the sport that she loves.
Yvette Sanborn currently lives and trains in College Park and helps to coach her two triathlete daughters Logan 12 and Camryn 10.
Yvette Sanborn has a Bachelors of Science in Biology from May 1994 and has maintained a full time career in medical device/pharmaceutical sales. She is currently growing a sales and leadership consulting firm and enjoys spending days and nights with her husband, David Sanborn of David's World Cycle.
Judi:
Judi initially got into endurance sports as she trained and raised money for a Cancer Charity Bike Ride. She wanted to get exercise and raise money for a great cause. She recalls the tough training, but realized thata 100 mile bike ride was nothing compared to the struggles that cancer survivors endured.
As she was graced with excellent mentors and coaches for that event, she now wants to give other women this same feeling of accomplishment.
For over four years, she has been training women on the bike to feel more confident. She also leads a local training rides for the Young Survival Coalition – Orlando Chapter. She has completed countless Century Rides, 10k,5k's and 2 Sprint Triathlons. She is also currently training for her first international distance triathlon in the fall.
"It is so satisfying to see the women grow as athletes and as individuals. Last year I did my first triathlon at age 50, the TREK WOMENS TRI. What a fabulous time. I again found myself offering encouragement in all aspects of the event." She now enthusiastically shares her passion for the sport of triathlon and empowerment of women.
