Certifications: Heart Zones Certified Triathlon Coach, CrossFit Level I, US Rowing Level II, Concept2 Certified, CPR/AED/First Aid.
Bio: Nell Shuttleworth began racing in triathlons in 2005, with the Naperville Reebok All Women's Triathlon. Since then, she has raced yearly in multiple events and recently completed Ironman Wisconsin. In addition to the multisport races, Nell has half a dozen full marathons, many half marathons and countless road races and is excited and prepared to educate others on how wonderful the sport of triathlon can be. A long time athlete, Nell loves the active lifestyle. She met her husband, also a triathlete, through a mutual friend at a rowing regatta and their first conversation steered immediately toward healthy living and participating in sports events. In fact, the morning they were married, they raced in a 10K together, their fourth time in that particular event.
Being healthy and active makes Nell feel whole. It provides her the self confidence to grow mentally and athletically every day. More importantly, being athletic has given Nell the ability to feel that she can, she will, overcome whatever life throws her way, whether it is to complete a triathlon, to start a business or to have a happy and healthy family.
Nell, along with her husband, recently opened Chicago's first and only indoor rowing facility, RowFit Chicago. The training studio offers group exercise classes on the rowing machines as well as other fitness programs such as CrossFit, Boot Camp, Computrainer and Triathlon Training. Nell is a Concept2 Certified Instructor, a Level II US Rowing Coach, a CrossFit Level I Certified Trainer and a Heart Zones Certified Triathlon Coach.
Nell will be competing in the CrossFit Regional Affiliate Games in Denver, CO in May and hopes to use this new experience to impart even more knowledge on her athletes and training buddies.
"I think about what my life would be like if I weren't active and if I didn't compete and I can't imagine it. This is my life, who I am and what I do and I love it. I work hard so that everyone can reap the benefits of being active and feel this way about his or her life."
Testimonials:
"Nell is a truly inspiring coach and motivator. She has encouraged me to set and achieve new goals and has pushed me past what I thought were my limits countless times, with successful results. I am a better athlete because of her support, guidance and motivation." - Chauncey Hoffmann
"I love Rowing! It’s a great way to help build endurance. So when I decided to run my first half marathon I used ergging to build my base. My first attempt didn’t go as expected; I was in pain and barely ran the final 3 miles. After some training tips from Nell and her experiences from competing in several marathons and the Ironman, my second effort just one month later greatly improved. I finished stronger, faster and pain free. Nell truly understands the mindset of athletes and can help guide a person to realize their true potential. Thanks to her encouragement and knowledge, I set some athletic goals this year that I know I will achieve." – Holly Oates
